Your style

If you’ve come searching for this page, the chances are you’ve met one of the CommsQuest team on your travels – perhaps at a networking event, or through a trusted colleague we’ve helped in the past. If you were given a business card, you were probably asked to pick your favourite colour. If that’s the case you might be wondering why we offered you a choice and want to know how colours communicate meaning.

Well we all know that there is more to communication than the words we use. We know that non-verbal communication like our choice of language, our tone and style of delivery and our body language all contribute to our communication style. This style influences people’s perceptions of us, and their views of our messages.

Many people believe our colour choices also say things about our personality, how we are feeling and how approachable we are. And when colour is used in our communication, some feel it reflects how seriously we take our project, service or product, as well as our levels of cultural sensitivity.

So why do we offer you a choice? It’s a nice way to introduce ourselves, it gives us a glimpse into what makes you tick, and of course it’s fun to guess which colour you will pick.

Click the links below for a few facts about your choice.

You chose blue

blue-styeIf your business were the colour blue what would that say about you and what would it communicate to your staff and customers?

Blue is associated with being trustworthy, dependable, committed – literally democratic. Even the White House has a blue room. What does your choice say about your communication style?

At CommsQuest, our job is to seek out advantages for you at every opportunity, whether “big picture” or in the detail. If you are trying to expand an Owl Sanctuary business, we’d encourage you to use blue in your logo because owls are the only birds that can identify the colour blue!

We’ve researched owls and we’re also here to tell you that blue toothbrushes are the most frequently purchased.

If we’re prepared to do that for a business card, imagine what we’re ready to do to improve internal communications within your business.  If you have any other insights into colours, or want to find out more, feel free to contact us or drop us a line.

You chose red

red-styleIf your business were the colour red what would that say about you and what would it communicate to your staff and customers?

Red is vibrant, exciting, risk taking. Of all the colours, red is said to cause the most diverse range of responses. To the financier, red represents loss; to the guest, the red carpet is where they long to tread.

What does your choice say about your communication style?

At CommsQuest, our job is to seek out advantages for you at every opportunity, whether “big picture” or in the detail. If you are in the beehive business, don’t make the entrance red. Bees can’t identify it. However, if you’re moving into the Greek confectionery business then choose red as all their Easter eggs are dyed that colour!

We’ve researched bees and Easter eggs and we’re also here to tell you that you can’t buy red clothes for a lady in a kosher clothing store.

If we’re prepared to do that for a business card, imagine what we’re ready to do to improve internal communications within your business. If you have any other insights into colours, or want to find out more, feel free to contact us or drop us a line.

You chose green

green-styleIf your business were the colour green what would that say about you and what would it communicate to your staff and customers? Green is associated with safety, tranquillity and open spaces. In the Scottish Highlands it is a sign of honour.

What does your choice say about your communication style?

At CommsQuest, our job is to seek out advantages for you at every opportunity, whether “big picture” or in the detail. If you’re in the fashion industry, we’d encourage you to avoid using green thread the night before your show – it’s seen as bad luck. On the other hand, if you are launching in Portugal anytime soon, we’d be urging you toward green as it’s that country’s symbol of hope.

We’ve researched sewing threads and we’re also here to tell you that most Portuguese clients will relate to green. If we’re prepared to do that for a business card, imagine what we’re ready to do to improve internal communications within your business.
